I have refreshed the Server B database from the backup of Server A database (date 20.03.2016, dump start time 1:10 AM end time 7:40 AM ). It is successfully loaded.
My question is how to find on server B after load, the data of 20.03.2016 is available?

I have 3 corrupt database dumps salvaged from a WinPro 2000 box with a damaged disk running ASE 12.5.3. When attempting to load the databases into a win10 ASE 12.5.3 server, 692 & 834 error messages are being raised.
Is there a way to load the database and have the server ignore these errors. My thoughts are that whatever portion of the database that is not corrupt would still be important information that my client can capture. Had this error not occurred during a load, it would be possible to run the dbcc page command(as well as some other dbcc's) and determine the object(s) associated with the corrupted page(s). Perhaps objects or partial objects that haven't been corrupted, can be bcp'd out and loaded into a healthy database.
I'm listing the text of the error message below:
WARNING! If the 692 error is not a soft error (one that exists only in memory), the problem is severe. Sybase Technical Support may be able to help you recover from the error. However, this recovery procedure often results in loss of data; if this is unacceptable, you will probably need to restore from backups.
I contacted Sybase for an engagement to recover as much of this database as is possible. I was told since there is no support/maintenance agreement, they could not help me even though my client would be willing to pay.

This cipher is found within ASE and even it is used it does not mean it is using TLS1.2 protocol since we are not negotiating from WebSphere application server and we are forcing only TLSv1.2 to be used.
When I tried to retrieve the signer certificate from WebSphere console it gave me that the database server is not supporting TLS and it failed until I changed the security level for WebSphere to accept TLS1.0 or SSL which is not acceptable since both protocols are vulnerable (ASE should support TLS1.2).
And it is used for all secure communications of the application servers since it is a general configuration over the cell, when it is forced to TLS1.2 the error appear and when we decrease it to accept TLS1.0 or SSLv3 the application server is accepting the connection with the database server.
I have attached RFC that covers TLS/SSL... Please check the Appendix A.5 at page 75, you will find that TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA is listed as a cipher suite for TLS 1.2

I am having real trouble with performance issues on a new ASE 15.7 dataserver built on Linux VMware.
We have migrated many servers, up to now, from AIX to LINUX without any issues but this particular set of servers has been an issue for months now.
A number of things have been tried at dataserver level to help with the performance but with no luck.
On average, the new servers are about 2 times slower than the old ones.
I ran the same set of processes on a new and old server and the thing that stands out for the 2 servers is wait event 124

Can see that the new server is doing more waits but significantly the wait time is a lot longer, hence completion of jobs is taking much longer.
Cache on both servers is the same on both servers but to rule it out I extended it on the new servers but still this produced the wait time produced above.
And disk speeds appear to be within a good range value of around 5 - 7 ms.
From a sysmon run of both servers while running the same processes the only things that stand out are that I/O Busy on for engine utilization is about 20% higher on the new servers (at 85%) and CPU.
And Context Switches at OS is about 18% higher on the new servers for Non-Voluntary in syb_default_pool at 23% (old server is 5%).

This is for a single process running on the server.
I believe that higher values for non-voluntary can point to an issue at CPU. The host has 4 cores and dataserver has 3 engines.
I don't believe that the tweaking of config parameter after config parameter should be needed to migrate theses servers. Every other server has migrated with little or no changes made. Am I missing something here or is there likely to be an issue at OS level that needs looked at?

Recently I was asked to recover a corrupted instance from backups
I ran into some issues with corrupted devices and decided a rebuild would be much faster then a recovery
However, I needed to reload the master database anyway to get latest data from system tables like logins, roles, passwords, etc.
It would have been much faster if I would have been able to reload the master database backup into a regular user database to just get this data and then discard this database again. But this is not possible and raises error 3109.
I know, a copy of system tables from master using bcp provides this info. But it was too late for that.
Building a new instance just to reload the master db to get this info is also possible.
Of course the master database contains lots of system tables unique to master, which don't make sense in any other db
I'm wondering if there's a traceflag to avoid error 3109, just to save some time.

The question is described in the title. The question derives from the limitations of Edge edition on the number of cores. For ASE Small Business Edition on virtual machines we had to run a utility on the vm host and declare a variable in the vm. I don't find any similar procedure for Azure, so I assume that if the machine is inside the limits of Edge edition the license will be checked out. I am trying to confirm this assumption.

I have a problem with upgrade from ASE 15.5 to ASE 16.0 (Linux 64bit).
Problem occurs when I am trying to start ASE 16.0 (with device master from 15.0) to perform 'upgrade' manually.
I use upgrade method from manual: Manually Upgrading SAP ASE
When I want to start new ASE 16.0 with master device from 15.5 to perform upgrade script I get:
The current 'max memory' value '30408704' is less than the 'total logical memory' value '1111040339'. ASE has increased the value of configuration parameter 'max memory' to '1111040339' to enable upgrade.
WHY...?
My 15.5 server runs fine with max_memory=30408704 (with 64GB RAM).
During upgrade ASE 16.0 tries to allocate more than 2TB of memory ?!?!

I have tried to:
1. Reboot server
2. Turn off HugePages
3. Turn off "allocate max shared memory" parameter
4. Decrease all memory parmaeters (like data /proc /stmt caches)
5. Reset shmmax (from systcl.conf) to higher values
...
but ASE 16.0 always attempts to allocate HUGE amount of memory:
server The configured value '6396' for parameter 'kernel resource memory' is too low. It should be atleast '10860' for the present configuration.
server kernel resource memory' has been modified from '6396' to '10860' by the verification routine.
server The current 'max memory' value '1111040339' is less than the 'total logical memory' value '1111044804'. ASE has increased the value of configuration parameter 'max memory' to '1111044804' to enable upgrade.
kernel os_create_region: can't allocate 2199023255552 bytes
kernel kbcreate: couldn't create kernel region.
kernel kistartup: could not create shared memory
I have tested upgrade process on machine with 4GB of RAM and it worked perfecly.
I would be grateful for any help.

after installing ASE 16.0 SP02 PL03 over the existing 16.0 SP02 PL02 it is not possible to enter ASE Cockpit. The Cockpit Server starts fine on his https://dimotion:4283/cockpit/ webpage the ASE name (DIMOTION) appears and I enter "sa" and the not changed password. The answer is allways "Login failed.".
I droped the $SYBASE/COCKPIT-4/plugins/DIMOTION directory and copy the existing $SYBASE/COCKPIT-4/templates/com.sybase.ase into a new
$SYBASE/COCKPIT-4/plugins/DIMOTION directory. Using the same existing agent-plugin.xml file I used for the 16.0 SP02 PL02 installation I generate a new agent. But after entering the "sa" password I also got "Login failed.".
I modified the existing agent-plugin.xml file three times to set a new encrypted password into the <set-property property="ase.password" value="<passwd>" /> line but the answer is allways the same "Login failed."...

I'd like to know if it's possible to get some details on the worktable and its clustered index?
Based on the attachment, my understanding is that my worktable1 contains the whole table 'marketDataSet' and it has clustered index on marketDataSet.M_ALIAS.
Am I correct?

sp_depends returns "... no objects reference it " for all our partition constraints in sysobjects not just the ones above.
They don't appear to be just warnings as we got error messages like this

Were I can download SAP Control Center for Adaptive Server ? I would like to try it out for control our Sybase databases. Unfortunately the only ones I was able to find was for Sybase IQ and for Replication Server. I also tried to find it on Database CD nut with no luck. Wea re currently on version 15.7 SP132 on most of our databases.
